New Jaguar Land Rover academy opens

The facility has been created to coordinate and carry out training for the company's technicians.

In addition to this, it will be home to the group's apprentice programme.

According to the company, the scheme is the largest of its type in the UK.

During the past ten years, more than 1,000 young people have taken part in its advanced apprenticeship initiative.

Furthermore, in May 2008 the academy which runs the programme became one of the first UK educational providers to receive the Training Quality Standard certificate from the Learning & Skills Council.

TV presenter Kate Humble opened the academy this week.

She stated: "It was a delight to meet with some of the young apprentices and dealer technical staff today and see the enthusiasm they showed towards their new academy."

Last year, Jaguar Land Rover said it welcomed a government initiative to encourage and support manufacturing in Britain.
