Jaguar XJ 2.7 V6 diesel 'drawing customers to marquee'
The popularity of the XJ 2.7 V6 diesel is encouraging more people to buy Jaguar vehicles, according to a managing director of the company.In September, UK monthly sales of the Jaguar XJ 2.7 V6 diesel saloon accounted for 67 per cent of all sales under the XJ series banner.
Meanwhile, Jaguar has also announced that its year-to-date sales have increased 31 per cent when contrasted with the same figures for this time last year.
Geoff Cousins, managing director of Jaguar UK, has singled out the value of the model to Jaguar's overall sales figures.
"We are particularly pleased that our UK sales volumes continue to increase at an unparalleled rate in an increasingly competitive market environment," said Mr Cousins.
"Important new models - such as the XK sports car and XJ diesel models - are major factors in attracting new customers to the brand."
In recent years, Jaguar's reputation for sports cars has been boosted by its participation in the Formula One World Championship.
However, at the end of the 2004 season the automaker pulled out of the driving championship, which many motoring enthusiasts interpreted as a sign that Jaguar wanted to focus on designing vehicles for general sale.
