Jaguar sponsorship 'highlights commitment towards car design'

Jaguar has reaffirmed its commitment towards creating innovative car designs by sponsoring a design awards ceremony.

The British automaker, which is owned by American carmaker Ford, has confirmed that it will support the Wallpaper Design Awards, which take place on January 10th 2007.

The event aims to promote design achievement in a diverse range of fields, including architectural feats and specific product designs.

Fiona Dent, Wallpaper's publishing director, commented on the partnership by describing the automaker as "a brand which clearly values beautiful design".

Meanwhile, CJ O'Donnell, global marketing director at Jaguar, explained that "design is at the forefront of our business".

He added: "Jaguar is renowned for creating some of the most striking, modern and beautiful sports sedans imaginable."

Last year, Ian Callum, director of design at Jaguar, received recognition of his designing talents from the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufacturers and Commerce.

The Royal Designer for Industry diploma was given to Mr Callum for his assistance on several projects, including design work on the X-Type Estate, the XJ-Series and the remodelled S-Type.
