Hyundai reveals Le Mans influence on Concept Genesis Coupe
The Concept Genesis Coupe vehicle unveiled by Hyundai at the Los Angeles International Auto Show has its roots in Le Mans racing.According to the automobile manufacturer, the look of the vehicle has been influenced by the vehicles used in the 24-hour races held in a French town of the same name since 1923.
In addition, chief designer at Hyundai's California design centre Joel Piaskowski stated that his team has attempted to build a model that is appealing to race fans and car lovers alike.
He said: "The mission for Concept Genesis Coupe was to create a pure performance car with a design that would capture the imagination of hardcore automotive enthusiasts."
The company added that it would look to get its new rear-wheel drive coupe models into US dealerships for 2009, with a possible UK arrival mooted for soon after.
