Hyundai 'kicks off' Euro 2008

South Korean carmaker Hyundai helped to kick off Euro 2008 in style this weekend by hosting the Hyundai Eurofest in the Swiss city of Basel.

The event, which was held on June 6th, one day before the opening match, featured live music and lots of football-related activities including an obstacle course and a penalty shootout.

There were also remote controlled car races, signifying Hyundai's role as the official automotive partner of the footballing competition.

An estimated 3,000 football fans and sporting revellers turned up to celebrate the launch of Euro 2008 and take part in the day's activities.

Jae-kook Choi, president of sales and planning at Hyundai, said: "Euro 2008 is a celebration of universal brotherhood. It brings people together in harmony and happiness, and that is the vision of Hyundai."

During the games the manufacturer will provide vehicles for the football teams taking part as well as referees, coaches and VIP delegates.

As well as supporting football, Hyundai also supports the environment, promising to minimise its impact from the production of its vehicles through to purchase. This is good news for motorists looking for cheaper car insurance premiums on greener cars.
