Hyundai enjoyed considerable success in the 2006 What Car? J.D. Power Survey of Customer Satisfaction, with its Matrix model scoring particularly highly.

The Korean car manufacturer now boasts six cars among the top five in their respective categories, with its Matrix model fighting off all competitors to claim top place in the Compact MPV category.

Hyundai's sporty Coupe also performed well, coming third in the Coupe/Roadster category, while the Santa Fe came fifth in the 4x4 category. In the City Car/Supermini sector the Getz came fourth, beaten only by the Honda Jazz.

Overall, the Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) gave Hyundai a score of 813 points, talking the firm from 15th to tenth in the best brand stakes, ahead of Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz and Saab.

Furthermore, Hyundai improved its customer satisfaction reputation by a staggering 18 points, ahead of the industry average of five points.

Hyundai also increased its score for vehicle quality by 17 points, despite an industry-wide decline during the year. It was also the sixth most reliable of all 36 make of cars surveyed, and was found to be the seventh least likely make of car to breakdown.
