Korean car manufacturer Hyundai are really trying to pull out all the stops with the latest UK range of Getz.
In fact, there is somewhat too much choice for the average consumer with ten models, with all but one costing under £10,000. There are three and five door versions, two petrol and two diesel engines options, manual or automatic gearboxes and two specification levels. Phew!!!
If you can finally decide how you would like Hyundai to put the car together it does run quite well. The difference between the Getz and other cars in this class is that with a relatively simple exterior you can presume the money has been spent under the hood.
A new-Getz runs on a 1.5 litre CRTD four-cylinder turbo diesel engine that comes with fuel consumption figures over 60 mpg, making it a class leader in fuel economy. This new four-cylinder engine does make the car faster than the older model although the car still loses out on a sleek, sexy and sophisticated city look.
There is still a 1.1 litre engine for those people who do want a cheap (£7,500) reliable vehicle however, it is recommended that if you're looking for a car that car do nought to 60 in less than 16 seconds, pay the extra and upgrade the engine.
The Getz seems to be all about practicality. If you want a car that is good on the gallon, gets you from A to B, is cheap to repair and a successful handler then the Getz is for you. But if you want a vehicle to make a statement about your personality or lifestyle then look elsewhere cause with sales exceeding 250,000 across Europe in a Getz you will just blend into the crowd.
