London Ford dealerships 'could help drivers cut carbon'
Cars that could one day become available at Ford dealerships are set to be tested out in London.Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) that developed as part of a government initiative are based on the Ford Focus and the capital's borough of Hillingdon is looking for volunteers to test them out.
For up to three months, households in the area could use the motors to assess them in terms of suitability and whether they could work as part of Ford's European model line-up.
Domestic charging points to power the cars will form part of the test; those participating will have one provided for their property.
Joe Greenwell is chairman of Ford of Britain and said BEVs could be a crucial development in the journey to more efficient transport solutions.
"Ford is looking forward to working with its project partners on developing a viable market for electric vehicles both in the UK and Europe," he explained.
Meanwhile, the manufacturer's fourth Kick It Out event that recently took place looked to celebrities for support.
Activities for youngsters and education about how to erase racism in sport was the aim of the scheme and guests included football players from teams such as West Ham and Watford.
