Ford unveils Ranger specs and prices

Ford has unveiled prices and specifications for its new Ranger, due to go on sale from September.

Priced at between £11,650 and £17,450, the new Ranger boasts an entirely redesigned interior, featuring an improved bolster, a larger headrest and new seats.

New silver finishing has been applied to the centre console, while the ventilator grilles, window switches, inner door handles, gearshift and the instrument cluster all boast chrome detailing.

Five cupholders, a two-bin centre console for storage, a pull-out tray and an integrated radio with an in-dash CD player have all also been installed.

However, the most significant alteration is a new 2.5-litre Duratorq TDCi common-rail fuel injection diesel engine, providing and additional 33bhp, taking the new engine's performance to 140bhp and to 330Nm of torque at 1,800 rpm.

This has given the Ford Ranger a one-tonne payload capacity and is capable of towing three-tonnes.

It also features four-wheel ABS brakes across the range, in addition to front airbags for driver and passenger. XLT and Thunder models feature also side impact airbags for the front seats, while child seat anchors are also available.

Ford commerical vehicles director, Steve Kimber said: "Sales of Ranger have more than doubled over the last five years and we are confident that the all-new Ranger will attract even more new customers who will certainly feel the difference from the increased power in the pedal to the sculpted seatbacks."
