Ford to increase prices
People considering buying a car from Ford in the coming months may want to make sure they get down to their local dealership before the end of June. The manufacturer has announced it will be putting its prices up from the beginning of July.
It explained it had no choice but to take this action in the face of the continuing weakness of sterling against the euro.
Prices will go up on average by four per cent.
This is equivalent to an additional £600 to £650 on the cost of models such as the Ka, Focus, C-MAX, Fiesta, Mondeo and Kuga.
Meanwhile, prices for the S-MAX and Galaxy will increase by about £700 and £800 respectively.
Nigel Sharp, managing director of the UK division of Ford, commented: "Raising prices in difficult times ... may seem counter-intuitive but, with so many of our costs priced in euros, there is no choice if we are to maintain a viable business."
In other news, the S-MAX and Kuga recently came top in their respective classes at the 2009 Towcar Awards.
