Ford readies for Shelby GT launch
Ford is preparing to launch the latest addition to the Mustang range with the launch of the Shelby GT.One of the most iconic and evocative cars of all time, Ford is hoping to recover some of its lost shine with the Shelby GT.
The 2007 Shelby GT is the result of a collaboration between Ford and Caroll Shelby and will be unveiled to the US public this weekend.
Featuring a 4.6litre small block V8 engine producing 325 bhp, the new Shelby GT is the third Shelby GT to be made in modern times, although Ford has announced that less than 10,000 will be made.
Shelby said: "It's got the heart and soul of the Mustang GT pumped up with a great noise, strong motor, and nimble chassis. It's one of those rare cars that's really easy to drive really fast."
However, Ford has not yet announced whether it will be producing left-hand driver versions for the UK market, although given its iconic status large numbers of Brits are expected to purchase a Shelby GT regardless.
Meanwhile, Ford has also announced the imminent launch of the Lincoln MKS full-size sedan, which was first unveiled as a concept car at the Detroit auto show.
The new Lincoln will form the flagship for the Lincoln luxury brands, and is expected to replace the Town Car when it reaches showrooms in 2008.
