Ford customers to benefit from VAT cut 'immediately'

Ford has announced it intends to pass on the full benefit of the 2.5 per cent reduction in VAT announced in the pre-Budget report this week to its customers.

The manufacturer has also agreed to action the savings with immediate effect, providing payment and legal transfer takes place on or after the official start date of December 1st.

It explained the 15 per cent VAT rate will result in a saving of approximately £200 for people buying the new Fiesta.

Commenting on the pre-Budget report, Roelant de Waard, chairman and managing director, said: "We are pleased that the government has taken such decisive action and we hope the tax reduction will encourage more customers to visit their local Ford dealership."

However, he added the company had been disappointed about the increase in fuel duty.

Meanwhile, Ford put the fact it had increased its market share of new car sales in October down to its "exciting" range of vehicles.
