Ford S-Max named Best Large MPV at car security showpiece

Car buyers who are on the lookout for a more secure motor may be interested to hear that one of Ford's multi-purpose vehicles (MPVs) has just received a design award.

At the British Insurance Car Security Awards 2007, backed by The Motor Insurance Repair Research Centre, the S-Max scooped the title of Best Large MPV.

It is thought that Ford's inclusion of a raft of security features, including an engine immobiliser and a remote-control deadlocking device, may have been enough to sway the judges in favour of the S-Max.

Steve Adams, vehicle line director for large and luxury cars at Ford, has commented on the awards recognition.

"We consider security to be of paramount importance," he said.

"This award is testament to the great effort and dedication of our security engineers but the real winners are our customers."

Recently, the S-Max was named Car of the Year 2007 by senior European motoring journalists, ahead of both the Vauxhall Corsa and the Citroen C4 Picasso.
