New Ford Mondeo proving popular
The new Ford Mondeo has proved popular with European car buyers during its first month on sale.Figures released by Ford of Europe showed that 8,800 of the new Mondeos were sold in June, despite it only being available in a small selection of countries.
Stephen Odell, Ford of Europe's vice president of marketing, sales and service, was delighted, but not surprised, by the sales figures.
"After receiving outstanding media reviews, the all-new Mondeo went on sale in June and got off to a strong start, selling almost 9,000 units. We expect to see that figure rising sharply in the months ahead," said Mr Odell.
The Mondeo figures formed part of a strong June performance by Ford of Europe, with the 169,000 vehicles sold an increase of 1.2 per cent on the same period last year.
The Focus and Fiesta models remained popular, while new registrations of the S-MAX grew and Ford sold a record number of commercial vehicles.
Figures released by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders earlier in the month showed that the Ford Focus was the UK's best selling car in the first six months of 2007.
