Ford Mondeo's Sport button welcomed

The long-awaited new Ford Mondeo has finally arrived with one independent reviewer singling out its sporty performance for particular praise.

As the successor to the existing Mondeo, the new car competes with rivals such as the Citroen C5 and entry-level models can be bought from Ford car dealerships for £14,995, reports Auto Express.

Among the changes rung by the US automaker, the next-generation vehicle is 47 mm longer and 120 mm wider than its predecessor, making for a more spacious ride.

Moving inside the cabin, automotive journalist Chris Thorp has welcomed the introduction of a new Sport button to switch to a racier performance dynamic.

"While the switch doesn't affect the steering, it tightens up the suspension to give optimum control," he said.

"The Mondeo tackles all kinds of corners with total confidence and minimum body roll."

As film buffs may already have been aware, the new Mondeo has already been seen by millions of motorists worldwide.

The family car featured in the new James Bond film Casino Royale.
