Britons top the list of Ford car buyers

More Britons bought Ford cars in May 2007 than any other European nationality, it has been revealed.

According to sales figures from the European division of the blue oval, some 37,457 Ford cars were purchased in Great Britain last month, compared to 21,568 units bought in Italy.

Meanwhile, demand for Ford vehicles in Europe as a whole was also on the rise.

Across the 21 countries that Ford lists as its main European markets, the automaker recorded a 2.3 per cent monthly increase in the number of motors sold.

"It is clear that customers like the way our vehicles look and drive," remarked Stephen Odell, vice president of marketing, sales and service at Ford of Europe.

"With the all-new Mondeo on sale this month, we are looking ahead with confidence."

Recently, automotive journalist Graham Whyte reviewed the 2.0-litre diesel Ford Mondeo Titanium X ahead of its UK launch and concluded that it was "almost impossible to fault".
