Ford accounts for a sixth of total UK vehicle sales

A sixth of all new cars and vans bought in the UK now bear the blue opal, it has been revealed.

According to figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, Ford car dealerships accounted for 17 per cent of all car and commercial vehicle sales last month, reports Easier.

Meanwhile, the total number of car registrations made in November was apparently 18 per cent higher than at the same point of 2005.

More specifically, it has been revealed that models such as the S-Max and the Galaxy have helped to boost demand for the blue opal.

Roelant de Waard, Ford of Britain's chairman and managing director, said that he hoped the launch of new cars in 2007 will help to sustain the momentum.

"With exciting new models such as the Focus Coupe-Cabriolet and the all-new Mondeo arriving next year, we're aiming to keep Ford in front in 2007," he said.

Although not due for launch until next year, automotive enthusiasts can already get an advanced preview of the new Mondeo - the Ford car makes an appearance in the latest James Bond film, Casino Royale.
