New Ford Ka has "range of safety features"

The safety features included in the new Ford Ka are reflected by its low car insurance grouping, the manufacturer announced this week.

According to Ford, the Ka has a "very stiff" body, ignition locks and reinforced steel door beams, as well as the Intelligent Protection System integrating airbags and seating.

The Studio model of the Ka is categorised in the lowest car insurance band (1E) and the rest fall into either 2E or 3E, the company said.

This means drivers could benefit from lower premiums should they choose to purchase Ford's latest vehicle.

Martin Ward is the spokesperson for data provider Cap and said the Ka was "brilliant".

"[It] is coming to the market at the right time when customers are looking for economical cars that are cheap to run, fun and have great styling," he added.

In related news, last month saw the marque announce prices for its forthcoming Focus RS.

The motor, which Ford claims is the fastest-ever production car, will start at £24,995 upon its March launch date.
