More disabled drivers may be visiting Ford dealerships
The number of disabled drivers visiting Ford car dealerships up and down the country may be rising, if new figures are anything to go by.According to statistics provided by the manufacturer, June saw a 25 per cent rise in the amount of applications for its autos made under the Motability Scheme.
This initiative was established in order to allow disabled people to apply for government grants so they can purchase vehicles.
Ford suggested its models were particularly popular with this group of customers because they offer "flexibility and adaptability".
The company recently received an accolade in recognition of the fact it had achieved the highest number of yearly registrations under the programme - with more than 10,000.
Spokesman Mark Chapman said: "Ford's excellent first half of 2009 working with Motability customers was capped by becoming their best volume manufacturer."
Meanwhile, the company recently reported it has sold more than half a million Ka models since its launch in 1996.
