Ford named most responsible automaker

Motorists looking for an ethical company within the automotive industry may be interested to learn that Ford has been named top of the pile for corporate social responsibility.

In the latest Companies that Count study from Business in the Community, an organisation established to promote a responsible attitude among UK businesses, the company was given maximum marks in terms of both marketplace management and environmental issues.

Consequently, it was named the most responsible motoring firm in Britain.

"Ford is very aware of the impact it has," affirmed Andy Taylor, European corporate citizenship director at Ford.

"This success as a 'Company that Counts' in Britain confirms Ford's commitment to act responsibly.

In addition, Ford was praised for producing a broad array of vehicles with low carbon emissions - such as the Ka range.

The Ka was originally launched in 1996 and has since become established as one of the UK's most-recognisable city car brands.
