Focus and Fiesta help Ford top the charts

Figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders show that Ford has been the top-selling brand since 1977 and is the best seller in Wales, with sales of Fiesta and Focus models reaching over 12,000 in 2006.

In addition, from a total of 86,718 cars sold in the country last year, 2,198 were the Ford Ka model and the US manufacturer's Mondeo came eighth in the chart with sales of more than 1,700, reports the Western Mail.

"This great result proves our formula of product, quality, pricing and dealer customer service is finding favour with increasing numbers of Welsh drivers," commented Mark Deans, Ford's regional sales director in Wales.

"Together with our dealers we will continue to develop this in 2007 - the year of the new Mondeo."

The new Ford Mondeo made its public debut last year at a French car exhibition, with the finished production model to be revealed this spring at the Geneva Motor Show, according to Auto Express.
