Increasing demand for Ford's small cars has helped the blue opal post increased year-on-year sales, according to the latest figures.
Statistics from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) reveal that Ford has increased its total share of the combined car and commercial vehicle market by 0.6 per cent.
More specifically, it has been revealed that the Ford Fusion saw sales increase by 14 per cent, while the Fiesta saw sales increase by 24 per cent over the past 12 months.
Roelant de Waard, Ford of Britain's chairman, said that the SMMT figures vindicated the company's approach towards selling vehicles.
"This great result proves our formula of product, quality, pricing and service is finding favour with increasing numbers of UK customers," he said.
"Together with our dealers, we will continue to work hard on this in 2007."
Ford car dealerships across the UK currently sell a range of new cars from the blue opal, including the Galaxy, the Mondeo and the Focus.
