New system may boost visits to Ford dealerships
More motorists may be tempted to pay a visit to their local Ford car dealership after hearing about the benefits offered by one of the manufacturer's recent developments.The group claimed its new six-speed PowerShift automatic transmission is already proving popular with people opting for Focus and C-MAX models.
It explained the device helps to deliver excellent fuel economy and significantly reduced CO2 emissions.
The company said this had been made possible through the inclusion of two electronically-controlled clutch devices, which smoothly deliver power to the wheels.
Spokesperson Pat Oldani commented: "The double-clutch technology gives you the best of both worlds - the efficiency of a manual, combined with the effortless, two-pedal operation of a conventional automatic."
As a result of the lower CO2 emissions and improved fuel economy, owners of autos fitted with the system may find they can save money on road tax and at the pump.
Meanwhile, Ford Fiesta sales increased by some 26 per cent last month.
