New Focus 'worth more than old in used condition'

When the new Ford Focus comes onto the used car market, it will be worth more than the original when it reached the status, according to an automotive source.

Valuation group EurotaxGlass commented that prices will hold up well due to initial low supply and high demand for the vehicle, with it expected to be as much as £500 above the price of the first Focus.

According to Johnathan Brown, car editor at EurotaxGlass, the more a vehicle sells the more pressure is put on residual values, as demand is generally satisfied.

He added: "Prices will hold up fairly well, reflecting the low level of supply and the anticipated jump in demand for what many perceive to be a more attractive car compared to its predecessor."

The Ford Focus has been in production since 1998 and is assembled at various worldwide locations including Russia and China.
