Ford has announced the name of the production version of its new SAV concept vehicle, which is due to be launched later this year.
The sporty new Ford S-MAX will take its place in the Ford range just below the best-selling full size seven-seat Galaxy MPV when it comes onto the market.
Ford announced the S-MAX as "a new name for a new type of vehicle", as the new car is expected to take the success of Ford's other MAX vehicle – the smaller Focus C-MAX – one step further.
Standing for 'space' the S-MAX is a sporty family vehicle which incorporates the new Ford Fold Flat System (FFS), meaning the car's seven seats can be readjusted to fit more luggage in and provide more room.
The trendy appearance of the S-MAX also adds much to its appeal, allowing young and old families to reflect an "active lifestyle", according to Ford.
Due to be officially unveiled at the 2006 Geneva Motor Show in March, the S-MAX looks set to take the family-car sector by storm.
