Ford 'urges motorists to consider its green MPV'

Ford has announced its new C-Max MPV comes with excellent green credentials.

According to the manufacturer, engineering developments applied to the 1.6 TDCi version of the model have produced a much more eco-friendly motor.

The car reportedly boasts CO2 emissions of 119 g/km, which means owners will qualify for vehicle excise duty (VED) of £35 per year, instead of £120.

Ford also pointed out this would drop to £30 from April 2009, when updated VED bands are due to be introduced.

In addition, motorists looking for good fuel economy may be impressed to hear the model is capable of 62.8 mpg.

For those car buyers looking for a smaller green vehicle, Ford also insisted it had the answer.

It claimed it now offers over 50 models with CO2 emissions of less than 120 g/km.

Meanwhile, the manufacturer's November sales figures revealed the company increased its market share in new car registrations by more than five per cent last month.
