New Fiesta still "economical, practical and dependable"

The 30th anniversary of the Ford Fiesta model highlights that it is continuing to provide "economical, practical and dependable transportation", according to its manufacturers.

Having first gone on sale in 1976, the Fiesta has continued to adapt to incorporate the latest gadgetry demanded by motorists.

Unlike the original model, for instance, the new Fiesta offers features such as air conditioning, power folding mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, voice-activated Bluetooth and satellite-navigation to improve the driving experience.

However, John Fleming, president and chief executive of Ford of Europe, said that the Fiesta still appeals to the same cross-section of drivers as it did in 1976.

"Fiesta's birthday gives us the opportunity to celebrate three decades of change," he said.

"Fiesta represented change when it came on the automotive scene and, while it has moved with the times and fashions over the years, it has remained steadfast in its dedication to providing economical, practical and dependable transportation for people of all ages.

"That mission is just as relevant today as it was in 1976," he concluded.

Ford also offers a range of additional features on new models of the Fiesta, such as free air conditioning, free metallic paint, front fog lights and a rear roof spoiler.
