Ford scoops three awards

Motorists looking to buy a new car may be tempted to pay a visit to their nearest Ford dealership after hearing about the manufacturer's latest achievement.

The company's Fiesta has been named best new auto 2009 by Fleet World, with judges singling out its appearance, low running costs and excellent quality for praise.

In addition to this, the firm was named the number one van producer and its Transit Connect came top in the small light commercial vehicle category.

Managing director of Fleet World Ross Durkin suggested the recipients of this year's awards should be particularly proud of their achievements considering the state of the economy.

Steve Kimber from Ford stated: "In a tough business climate, it is rewarding to see that our policy of combining reliable product with good service for fleet customers continues to work."

Earlier this week, the manufacturer announced it had taken in excess of 3,000 additional orders from new clients as a result of the scrappage scheme.
