Ford fights financial downturn
The number of people visiting Ford dealerships up and down the UK may not have been affected too badly by the economic downturn, if new figures are anything to go by.Although the manufacturer's year-on-year sales figures fell from 32,176 to 28,214 last month, it stated this compares favourably with the market as a whole.
It explained overall new car registrations have dropped 24 per cent, while Ford has witnessed a significantly lower 3.6 per cent decrease.
The company went on to point out it has increased its market share and it put its relative success down to popular models like the new Fiesta, the Focus and the Kuga.
Managing director Nigel Sharp said: "Ford's rising share in April has been achieved in the most challenging conditions of weaker industry demand and an unfavourable exchange rate."
In other news, Clean Green Cars recently reported the manufacturer had done the most to cut its new auto carbon dioxide emissions in 2009.
