Ford Fiesta CO2-cutting engine produced in UK
Prospective Ford Fiesta buyers may be interested to learn that the production of the model's 1.6-litre diesel engine has started in the UK.The blue oval's manufacturing plant in Dagenham, which is powered by renewable wind energy, has begun turning out 1.6-litre Duratorq TDCi turbo diesel engines as part of a £130 investment project.
Dave Parker, plant manager at the Dagenham Diesel Centre, has commented on Ford's decision to begin mass production in the UK.
"This new engine output for Ford Dagenham reinforces that Britain is a good place to do manufacturing business," he said.
When the 1.6-litre diesel engine is fitted to the new Fiesta, the model's emissions drop to 116 grammes of CO2 per km, which may be of interest to motorists looking for a more eco-friendly drive.
In addition to the Fiesta, visitors to Ford car dealerships can also opt to test other ranges such as the Focus, the Fusion, the Mondeo, the C-Max and the S-Max.
