Ford Fiesta and VW Passat up for green award
The Ford Fiesta ECOnetic and the Volkswagen Passat Bluemotion2 are among the contenders for this year's WhatGreenCar auto of the year award, it has been revealed.Judging is due to take place on Thursday June 25th at Imperial College London.
Organisers said the fact the university specialises in business, medicine, engineering and science makes it an ideal location to weigh up the benefits of the various contenders.
All models will be rated for reliability, design, running costs, price and environmental impact.
Judges will include Ian Featherstone – fleet advice manager with the Energy Saving Trust – and Neil Wallis – head of communications at the Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership.
To be eligible to enter, cars must be available direct from the manufacturer.
Contenders come from a variety of classes, including supermini, MPV and executive.
Earlier this year, WhatGreenCar estimated the average carbon benefit from the scrappage scheme would be more than 50 g/km of CO2 per car.
