Ford dealership visits 'should be boosted by scrappage extension'
The extension to the scrappage scheme could encourage more motorists to visit their local Ford dealership, it has been suggested.According to the carmaker, the recent announcement that the government is to provide enough extra funding to provide subsidies for a further 100,000 vehicles should allow thousands of additional drivers to enjoy the benefits of its autos.
The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills announced last month that it is now planning to provide £400 million in total for the cash for bangers initiative.
One driver who has already taken advantage of the financial incentive is Mick King from Leybourne in Kent.
Mr King exchanged a 1996 Ford Escort for a Fiesta Zetec straight off the production line.
He said he is hopeful his new car will last just as long as his old one.
"I could well keep the Fiesta as long as my previous Ford," Mr King commented.
