Ford cars 'selling well'
The number of motorists visiting their local Ford car dealerships in September may have been significantly higher than during the same month last year, if new figures are anything to go by.Statistics from the manufacturer showed sales were up by more than 22 per cent - double the overall market increase.
The Ford Fiesta was the most popular model in the UK for the seventh time in 2009.
For the year to date, the supermini has been the number one best-selling auto in the country, followed by the Focus.
Commenting on the group's performance, managing director Nigel Sharp said: "The twin strengths of our new and exciting product range and our tremendous dealer network have enabled us to increase our market share."
In total, more than 54,500 autos straight off the production line were driven out of Ford dealerships up and down the UK in September.
Meanwhile, the manufacturer recently claimed the extension to the scrappage scheme should allow thousands more motorists to enjoy the benefits of its new cars.
