Tyres 'need to be in tip-top condition in autumn'
Wherever drivers buy their vehicles from - be it a Fiat or Ford car dealership - it is vital they look after their tyres, it has been claimed.According to the Institute of Advanced Motorists, these important auto parts play a crucial role in road safety.
The group added it is particularly important to check tyres are offering enough grip during autumn, when there are frequent showers.
It explained stopping distances increase on wet surfaces anyway and it is vital the state of these car parts does not exacerbate the problem.
Head of technical advice Tim Shallcross said: "As tyres have only the area of the sole of your shoe in touch with the road at any one time, it's a safety no-brainer to keep them in top condition."
Earlier this month, TyreSafe urged drivers to check the pressure of these key auto parts on a regular basis - in order to reduce the chances of an accident and improve fuel economy.
