New competition invites drivers to have some fun

A new contest set up by automobile manufacturer Fiat is asking for contributions as to how best to have fun during a long journey.

Its Smiles Per Hour Design Competition is looking for amusing and interesting ways to pass the time while dirivng.

On offer for the winner is a £50,000 prize, which could be used to pick up a new vehicle, a used car or even to pay off an expensive car insurance or road tax policy.

Suzi Perry from TV's The Gadget Show commented that the competition will "generate some fantastic prototypes".

"We're famous in this country for our great inventors and I'm sure today's budding designers can match them all the way," said the presenter.

This comes as the Fiat 500 picked up top prize in the Green Supermini category at this year's What Car? Green Awards, which was held at the British International Motor Show on Tuesday 22nd July.
