Motorists 'must look after their tyres'

Whether motorists went to a Ford or Fiat dealership for their latest car, it is vital they keep their tyres in tip-top condition, it has been claimed.

Protyre pointed out more Brits than usual are planning to holiday in the UK this year, adding this would mean extra traffic on the roads and the potential for an increased number of accidents.

The group suggested drivers could reduce their chances of being involved in a collision by making sure their tyres meet minimum legal requirements.

Previous research by the company revealed nearly one in four motorists have at least one defective tyre on their vehicle.

The firm stated people could make sure they did not fall into this category by dropping into one of their outlets for a free assessment.

Last year, the group warned drivers who do not look after this important car part could end up having to pay a fine of up to £2,500.
