Fiat 500 sale raises £200,000 for charity
A Fiat 500 has been sold for £200,000 in aid of Absolute Return for Kids (ARK) in London last week. The car was one of four models designed and painted by Turner Prize-winning artist Tracey Emin.
The Fiat 500's design, by Emin, was entitled Dark Dark Dark.
More than 1,200 guests attented the gala reception at the Royal Naval College, including former prime minster Tony Blair, actress Uma Thurman and Elizabeth Hurley.
The £200,000 Fiat 500 contributed to the total of £25 million raised for the charity at the reception.
Charlotte Locks-Moro, the charities event executive, commented: "The £200,000 it raised is not only an amazing amount of money for a car, but it was also a significant sum towards the total we raised for charity."
For those not purchasing one of the cars designed by Emin, a new Fiat 500 can cost as little as £8,100, according to the manufacturer.
