Fiat customers are 'saving money at the pump'
Drivers who have been using Fiat's eco:Drive system have saved in excess of 163,000 kg of CO2 since the product was launched in October, it has been claimed.Motorists who have access to the technology can record information on their driving performance by plugging a USB stick into their car's dashboard.
They can then upload this data onto a computer and receive advice on how to improve their fuel-saving habits behind the wheel.
Andrew Humberstone, managing director with Fiat, said: "eco:Drive offers real benefits, helping drivers to improve their driving efficiency, saving fuel and reducing their impact on the environment."
The technology which is already available to owners of the 500 and Grande Punto models is due to be fitted to the Bravo and Qubo in 2009, the manufacturer announced.
Earlier this month, Fiat revealed Strictly Come Dancing champion Tom Chambers had taken delivery of its latest 500 car.
