Award highlights Fiat's green credentials

Car buyers keen to minimise their impact on the planet may want to pay a visit to their nearest Fiat dealership.

This is because the manufacturer's green credentials have just been recognised at a recent award ceremony.

Its eco:Drive technology received an environmental accolade at this year's Fleet World Honours.

The system advises motorists on ways they can cut their carbon emissions and reduce their fuel bill.

Fleet World editor Ken Rogers said Fiat should be proud of its achievement.

He pointed out: "The winner of this award was nominated by the Energy Saving Trust, an organisation with an extensive overview of all the environmental initiatives on the market."

The eco:Drive system was unveiled at the 2008 Paris International Motor Show.

In other news, Fiat recently announced the three-door Grande Punto 1.4 Active is available to motorists taking part in the government's vehicle scrappage incentive scheme for £6,695.

The initiative was introduced at the beginning of the week.
