Fiat is to deliver 3,000 new cars to the organisers of the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy, as part of its role as official sponsor of the Games.

The leading car manufacturer's new four-wheel drive Fiat Seduci will make up 2,000 of the vehicles, as the official car of the Games.

Other vehicles from Fiat's range that will be delivered to the company's home town include the new Grande Punto which goes on sale in the UK next month, the Fiat Croma, Panda 4x4, Fiat Idea, Alfa 159 and Alfa Crosswagon.

Fiat's 4x4 range is ideally suited for the mountainous backdrop of the Winter Olympics, with the new cars all equipped with the latest generation info-telematic and satellite navigation systems, enabling users to reach all the Olympic sites of interest by following the directions on screen.

The cars are due to be issued to the hundreds of journalists, TV crews and delegations from all over the world.

Fiat's funky range is also providing transport for officials from all over the world, including additional support for particular teams.

One such team is the infamous Jamaican Bobsleigh team, made famous by the film Cool Runnings starring John Candy.

Fiat's new roomier Croma – one of the main cars used in the Olympics – is due to go on sale in the UK this summer.
