Fiat Croma 2005 voted one of ten safest vehicles since 1983

The Fiat Croma 2005 has been declared one of the top ten safest cars ever tested by Which? magazine.

Regular road safety tests on new cars have been conducted by the publication since 1983 and it has now released a list of the safest cars ever to be assessed.

These tests take into account a host of variables such as airbag provision and effectiveness of fitted seatbelts to come up with an overall rating for each vehicle.

And the diesel model of the Fiat Croma Multijet 150 2005 was given an overall rating of 13 points, establishing it as the joint fourth safest vehicle tested since 1983.

Neil Fowler, editor of Which?, acknowledged that new cars are typically safer than their older cousins, but stressed that companies must keep coming up with innovative safety products.

"We started our groundbreaking safety rating system in 1983," he said.

"Modern cars measure up well against their ancestors but there's no room for complacency where safety's concerned."

The Fiat Croma 2005 is a large family car that was awarded the maximum five-star rating for adult occupant safety in the European New Car Assessment Programme.
