As spring approaches and the sun (hopefully) begins to shine, Citroen has the perfect funky vehicle in which to enjoy the fresh British air. The C3 Pluriel, originally launched in 2003, is an often overlooked gem in the French car manufacturer's range. This delightfully funky-looking four seater convertible was dubbed the spiritual successor to the Citroen 2CV on its arrival. But with its fun, continental styling, electric sliding roof, power steering and bigger engines, the Pluriel offers a 21st century take on an old classic. And Citroen's Pluriel can shift as well as look great, as a 1.4-litre 75bhp engine offers a more than reasonable 0-62 in 13.9 seconds. But it is the styling and coolness of this retro tin snail that makes the car so much fun. Everything from hardwearing synthetic mesh upholstery to large circular displays on the dashboard give the Pluriel a distinctly joyful persona. Gadgetry is also a plus point, with all models having height-adjustable driver's seat, front and side airbags, electric windows, ABS and power steering. But to top it all off, the Pluriel has a fantastic electric sliding sunroof for the summer days. And if it gets too hot (it might), the roof can be simply be removed to become a fully-fledged convertible. Lovely.
