Citroen has reason to celebrate this week after its C3 and C4 models drive away with some of the highest accolades at the 2006 British Insurance Car Security Awards. The Citroen C4 scored a maximum double five-star rating in the 'Small Family' car category, while the C3 Exclusive model came out on top in the 'City Car/Supermini' category. This is third consecutive year that the C3 Exclusive has won the title in its category, which ensures it will remain unbeaten in the history of the awards. The C4 meanwhile has won its category for the second consecutive year, boasting a five-star rating for occupant safety. Both models also picked up more points in the Theft Of and Theft From categories than any rival models, largely as a result of improvements made in measures such as engine immobilisers. Citroen has invested heavily in improving the security of its cars over the last few years, benefiting customers via ultra-low insurance ratings. An example of this is the Group 1 rating given to many C1 and C2 superminis, the lowest rating possible. Managing director at Citroen UK, Xavier Duchemin, said: "Keeping insurance rates low is yet another example of how Citroen is reducing the real world cost of motoring. "These awards prove how hard we've worked to make our cars safe and secure, ensuring that the real winners are our customers."
