Citroen C3 owners alerted to 2CV plans
Owners of the Citroen C3 looking to relive their youth may be pleased to learn that the legendary 2CV is apparently gearing up for a comeback as part of the automaker's expanded small family car line-up.Just like the original, which came into production in 1948, the revamped model looks set to boast a classic thin-rimmed steering wheel, retro speedometer and a gear stick situated on the dashboard, reports Auto Express.
Moreover, the model will feature the double chevron grille and slatted bonnet that made the original famous.
Expected to appear as a concept car in 2007, the model is also expected to contain a number of concessions to the modern world.
"While the 2CV was designed to be cheap and cheerful, the newcomer will feature lots of hi-tech kit as standard, including sat nav and connectivity for the latest hand-held gadgets," said Sam Hardy, Auto Express' motoring journalist.
The original 2CV became firmly entrenched in the nation's affections following appearances in a string of blockbuster films, including For Your Eyes Only, Revenge of the Pink Panther and Apocalypse Now.
