The reliability of the Citroen brand has been reinforced after a new rally championship set up for C2s got underway without technical glitches.
Using only C2 vehicles, the Citroen C2R2 Cup takes place alongside the British Rally Championship race weekends throughout 2007.
Drivers use road-legal C2s fitted with five-speed gearboxes and compete to be given the opportunity to test-drive the C2 S1600 that competes in the full rally championship.
The tournament has been set up by Simon Preston, Citroen Sport dealer and founder of the Peugeot 206 Cup.
Commenting after the completion of the first round, Mr Preston said: "I was very pleased with the way the championship started - there was not a single mechanical failure that was down to poor product.
"A lot of the drivers went out all guns blazing."
The Citroen C2 was officially launched in 2004 and was conceived as the successor to the outgoing Saxo model.
