Citroen C1 'can cut costs'
Drivers looking to downsize in the current climate in a bid to save money may want to pay a visit to their local Citroen dealership. The manufacturer has announced its C1 1.4HDi model achieved 84.32 mpg in the 2008 ALD Automotive/Total Excellium MPG Marathon - taking it within 0.3 mpg of the overall winner.
Putting this in perspective, the carmaker claimed this means one tank of petrol could sustain the vehicle from Plymouth to Aberdeen.
Buyers opting for the C1 will be able to purchase a new model from just over £8,500 and owners will then qualify for group one insurance costs, Citroen stated.
Environmentally-aware drivers may also be interested to hear the vehicle has carbon emissions of 109 g/km.
During the marathon, the car completed more than 400 miles on roads which varied from winding country lanes to motorways.
Meanwhile, Citroen recently announced it was looking at building an "ultra environmentally-friendly" vehicle based on the C-Cactus concept model.
