Fuel cell car revealed by Chevrolet
Chevrolet showed off a new fuel cell car in Vancouver at an automobile exhibition this week.The motor manufacturer displayed the Chevrolet Equinox Fuel Cell at the Globe 2008 Auto Future Tech Summit which once it gains approval from safety authorities will be available to buy.
Indeed, by the end of the year the firm is looking to have eight hybrid safety vehicles on sale at dealerships across North America.
Powered by a fourth generation fuel cell propulsion system developed by General Motors (GM), the Equinox Fuel Cell vehicle has an estimated 80,000-kilometre lifespan and will soon be piloted in California, Washington DC and New York.
"Fuel cells and the electrification of the vehicle have the potential to literally change the way the world drives," said Beth Lowery, GM vice-president of environment, energy and safety policy.
Chevrolet is a division of GM which develops cars and trucks and was founded in 1911.
