'Fitting room for drivers' launched by Chevrolet

Chevrolet has created a groundbreaking new dealership concept that enables drivers to 'try on' vehicles before they make a purchase.

The carmaker is trialling its drive-in fitting room at a South London forecourt and claims that it gives motorists the chance to find out how they look in a car before they drive it away.

Chevrolet claims that it is the world's first drive-in fitting room for car buyers, comprising a curtained-off space and a central revolve placed in front of three giant mirrors.

Motorists drive into the 'fitting room' and use a remote-control handset to rotate the revolve and decide on whether or not a car suits them.

Nicky Hambleton-Jones, presenter of Channel 4's makeover show 10 Years Younger, commented: "Most people have no idea what they actually look like behind the wheel, but seeing as the car is an expression of your personality, it's important to make sure you get the model that complements your style."

A poll of over 1,000 drivers by Chevrolet found that almost three-quarters (72 per cent) see their car as a status symbol, but 95 per cent have no idea about how they look behind the wheel.

Chevrolet is in the process of expanding its range of vehicles available in the UK, with the introduction of the Aveo and Epica models this year and further launches planned for 2009.
