Drivers urged to protect their suspension

Motorists who want to avoid expensive car repairs may be well-advised to take preventative measures to protect their suspension, it has been suggested.

Car Parts Direct claimed the ever-increasing use of speed bumps in the UK is causing problems for the nation's drivers.

However, it pointed out - whether people own a Chevrolet or a Citroen - one simple job can help keep motorists keep their vehicles running smoothly.

The company explained adding rubbers to suspension coil springs is a straightforward task which generally takes about 20 minutes.

At a cost of around £35, the firm added it was a cheap alternative, when compared with the amount motorists might end up shelling out for repairs.

For drivers who are unsure where to begin, Car Parts Direct has released a demonstration video on its website.

Spokesperson Mark Cornwall stated the company had been keen to help as "it appears speed bumps are here to stay".

In December, Car Parts Direct warned people may not be covered by their insurance in the event of an accident if their vehicle is deemed not to be roadworthy.
