Hyundai named Best Carmaker of the Year

Hyundai has been named the Best Carmaker of the Year at the 2015 Motor Trader Awards, the third time in six years that the company has won the title.

The prize was given to Hyundai by a panel of judges, who said that they were impressed by Hyundai’s impressive customer care and its ever-changing line-up of new vehicles.

Curtis Hutchinson, Motor Trader’s editor, said: “For the third time in six years, Hyundai Motor UK has won Motor Trader’s Carmaker of the Year Award in recognition of its sales success, desirable new models, focus on customer care and its close and profitable relationships with its dealer network.”

Third win in six years!

He added: “Hyundai’s expanded model range covers all the key market sectors and is one of the freshest looking line-ups in UK showrooms and the brand’s results speak for themselves.

“The company recorded best-ever sales of just over 82,000 in 2014 up 25 per cent since 2010 and this year is looking set to better that.”

Looking to keep up its momentum, Hyundai announced that it’s targeting 100,000 sales in the UK, with a long-term aim of becoming one of the top five best-selling brands in the country.

New Hyundai range

In order to help achieve this, Hyundai has launched a range of new models this year so far, with the new i20, i30 and i40 ranges getting a revamp, with the all-new Tucson SUV to arrive in September.

Tony Whitehorn, Hyundai UK’s CEO, said: “Hyundai has undergone something of a transformation in recent years. But that’s not enough – we want Hyundai to grow into something more in the hearts and minds of our customers.

“We can do this by continuing to offer more cars that people want to buy and by allowing them to buy them and care for them in a way that suits them. That’s why it so important to have a strong and transparent relationship with our dealer network.”

i30 the top-selling model

According to the company, the Hyundai i30 is currently the top-selling model in Europe, with production having to be stepped up at Hyundai’s factory in the Czech Republic to cope with demand.

In total, the i30 has accounted for a fifth of Hyundai’s sales in the past three years alone, while a range of recent updates is expected to boost popularity amongst buyers even further.
